BIOGRAPHY
Giuliana Gianfaldoni is one of the most promising voices on today’s opera scene, praised for “an exquisite timbre of luminous beauty” (Connessi all’Opera).
Born in Taranto, she studied at the “G.B. Martini” Conservatory in Bologna and continued her training with Antonella D’Amico in Verona. She made her debut at nineteen as Despina in Così fan tutte at the Ópera de Tenerife, returning the following year as Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Her portrayal of Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Salzburg Festival (Yap 2014) first brought her to international attention. Since then, she has collaborated with conductors such as Nicola Luisotti, Roberto Abbado, Daniel Oren, Daniele Rustioni, Riccardo Frizza, Giacomo Sagripanti, Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Michele Spotti, and in productions by Damiano Michieletto, Leo Muscato, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Graham Vick, Jacopo Spirei and Franco Zeffirelli.

She has also distinguished herself in the symphonic repertoire, performing works such as the Stabat Mater by Rossini, Mozart and Pergolesi, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Saint-Saëns’ La Nuit and Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Filarmonica Toscanini di Parma, Orchestra della Toscana and at the MITO Festival, as well as at the summer season of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In December 2023 she sang in the televised Christmas Concert at the Italian Senate (Rai 1) conducted by Michele Spotti and at the 2024 Easter Concert with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai under Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
A regular guest of the Rossini Opera Festival since 2019, when she joined the “Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda” and made her debut as Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims (a role that has become one of her signatures), she has since appeared in La cambiale di matrimonio, Stabat Mater, Cantata in morte di M. F. Malibran, Rossinimania and numerous concerts, culminating in the summer of 2025 with the rare Cantata in morte di Didone.
